Milovan Milivojević

Research Associate

Milovan Milivojević is a Research Assistant at the Geographical Institute "Jovan Cvijić" SASA, within the Department of Physical Geography, where he conducts research in the fields of geomorphology and cartography. His expertise encompasses high-mountain areas affected by Pleistocene glaciation and the relief resulting from glacial processes on the mountains of the western Balkan Peninsula. His research involves the reconstruction of Pleistocene glaciers and the resulting relief. His research work is focused on frequent discrepancies in results, i.e., the mismatch between the extent of the reconstructed ice cover and the landforms created by glacial erosive action. Besides glaciation, his focus also includes periglaciation and the distribution of these landforms, primarily thufurs in Serbia. In his work, he applies spatial-quantitative methods in the field and during spatial analysis using software geo-tools (Google Earth), with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of Pleistocene and contemporary processes. He makes his most significant scientific contributions in the fields of reconstructing Pleistocene glacial relief, practical cartography, and researching karst landforms and processes in Serbia and the Balkan Peninsula, building upon general global achievements in these areas. Research fields: • Pleistocene glaciation, • Karst relief of Serbia covered by dolines (sinkholes), • Practical cartography in non-geographical disciplines such as linguistics and history.
