Jelena Ćalić is a Senior Research Associate in the Geographical Institute „Jovan Cvijić“, within the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. She is a member of the Physical Geography Department, where she works in the thematic field of geomorphology. Her scientific activities include the study of geomorphological processes and the resulting landforms. The work is mainly oriented to karst, with particular point to surface depressions and underground erosional relief. She also participates in teams which study other types of processes, such as slope (mass movements) and glacial, with application of geomorphometrical methods. She was involved in educational programs related to natural disasters mitigation. She uses program packages Global Mapper and Q-GIS, as well as the platform Google Earth Pro. In speleological mapping and topographic survey, she uses the applications Topo Droid and Speleoliti. She actively participates in the work of the International Union of Speleology (UIS – Union internationale de spéléologie), where she is the National Delegate of Serbia. She was a team member in the process of the establishment of the Unesco Global Geopark Djerdap, as well as in interdisciplinary cooperation projects associating geography and archaeology.
