Uroš Durlević

Research Assistant

Dr. Uroš Durlević is a Research Assistant at the Geographical Institute “Jovan Cvijić” of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), in the Department of Cartography, where he conducts research in applied cartography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). His expertise includes the analysis of processes and phenomena in physical geography, aimed at environmental protection and sustainable environmental management. His research focuses on the development of geospatial databases and the spatial prediction of natural hazards, with particular emphasis on snow avalanches and wildfires. In his work, he applies quantitative methods, GIS, remote sensing (Sentinel-2, Landsat 8/9, VIIRS, MODIS), and artificial intelligence models (machine learning and deep learning) to better understand the dynamics of natural processes, as well as to identify key risk factors and spatial patterns of natural disaster occurrence. His most significant scientific contributions are in the field of modeling and mapping natural hazards using advanced cartographic and mathematical methods across Serbia and Southeastern Europe, as well as in the assessment of suitable locations for solar energy development and the application of geospatial analysis in the context of eco-tourism. Research fields: natural hazards, Geographic Information Systems, environmental protection
